minaj madness

sometimes the feeling of want vs need is a fuzzy line… so i had a mini shopping meltdown and ended up with all things nicki minaj.

what better cure for a shitty day than a collection of pretty colours from my favourite lunatic?

i set out, originally, to pick up a baby pink nailpolish. i dont really know why, i have no idea when i last even considered wearing a pink anything.. with that in mind, i opted for the nicki mini set from opi, the best of every world. the set features “did it on em” (acid green), “fly” (vibrant aqua), “pink friday” (the perfect baby pink) and “metallic 4 life” (silver micro glitter with duochrome, turquoise glitter sticks). i could not be happier with these polishes. the mini size offers you more colour options without having to commit to a full size bottle of something you’ll seldom use. the shades are diverse and vibrant but do require a third coat to achieve full intensity.

i cant stop staring at my nails, i love them so much. i’ve tried them all out and i keep getting compliments from strangers, they’re so eye catching!

to complete my minaj collection, i also picked up the latest shade from mac’s viva glam collection featuring nicki and ricky martin. as some of you may know, the proceeds from the purchase of any product in the viva glam range go to help men, women and children living with aids. do something good and look good while doing it!

the most amazing concealer. ever.

i have recently been obsessing over my undereye area. one of my new year’s resolutions is to take better care of my skin which, in turn, means i want my skin to look (seem) flawless all the time.

i have been on a hunt for the perfect undereye concealer. i have tried using many product combos to get the coveted seemlessly invisible result but to no avail… until now.

benefit’s erase paste was once only available in one shade. being as pale as i am, that was never an option before. they now have three shades, a fair, medium and deep.

i tested some of this out and it was a whole new world of concealer. the perfect combination to erase undereye darkness is a salmon or melony shade and now they have one for everyone!

the product is smooth and creamy and very pigmented. a little really goes a long way!

i take a small amount and dab it onto the darkest part of my under eye with my fingertip, then blend out the edges. an immediate wow effect!

just set with a powder and you’re good to go.

maybelline 24 hr color tattoo love <3

i’d heard a lot of talk about these as of late and after seeing some swatches online, i was convinced into trying them out for myself.

i picked up “tough as taupe” and “pomegranate punk” and i can honestly say i’m in love. the texture of these is similar to a mac paint pot except that once these set, they will not budge for the entire day! i’ve tested them out with and without a primer and they remained true to their name.

the taupe shade is more like a warm grey. the colour opaque and matte but a little flat if worn all on it’s own. this colour works really well as a base. (i somehow deleted the pic of this but you arent missing much)

the pomegranate is probably my favourite eye colour as of late. i cannot express just how much i love reddish tones on the eyes so this is perfect. pat some on with a brush or finger and blend out the edges, swipe on some thick, black mascara and even some black liner and your gaze will smoulder all day long.

what more could you want for an eyeshadow? something quick and easy and most importantly, sexy!

mini rimmel haul

while browsing the pharmacy, i noticed all of the rimmel products were on mega sale. i picked up a couple of lipsticks for 4$ each!! i got two Lasting Finish lipsticks in Pink Blush and Airy Fairy as well as one of the Lasting Finish by Kate lipsticks in 02.

Airy Fairy is a peachy pink nude with the subtlest of golden shimmer.

Pink Blush is a blue toned bubblegum pink with subtle silver shimmer.

02 by Kate is hot fuschia pink with subtle sheen.

all of these lipsticks have a beautiful colour payoff. what you see is what you get. the application is smooth and although i really dislike shimmer finish lipsticks on myself, these are so subtle that it’s more of a sheen finish than a shimmer.

i’m kinda conflicted about these lipsticks. they are super affordable and have beautiful colours but they have this smell…. they smell like bubblegum. which, in theory, isnt all that offensive. however, even a while after applying, i keep noticing the sickly sweet smell on my mouth and it starts to drive me crazy. so far, i havent worn these for a whole day, only for a couple of hours, max. i also havent had the chance to test out if the finish on these actually lasts.

at the same time, i decided to try out the Volume Accelerator with lash boosting complex . the claim of this mascara, that with one application the appearance in the volume of your lashes is said to be boosted by 10x. after 30 days, you’re supposed to notice a visible difference in the thickness of your lashes.

i have taken a “before” picture of my lashes and in 30 days, we’ll do a comparison.

as for the applicator, the wand is thick and rounded on one side and tapers at the tip, perfect for reaching corner lashes. the other side is completely flat, with shorter bristles. i use the rounded side of the brush to build up volume in the lashline and then flip it to the flat side to curl the lashes upward.

i’ve used rimmel mascaras before and though i like their effect, i’ve always foundthem to flake quite a bit and smudge below my lashes. today, i gave this mascara a try and surprisingly, it has a beautiful volumizing effect and didnt flake or smudge at all.

french kissing lush

this week has honestly been a week from hell and i know i’m not the only one. yesterday was so long and tiring that by the end of it i was wandering the streets practically crying as i made my way up st catherine’s. that’s when the smell of lush wafted my way and the allure of sweet warmth drew me inside.

i wanted not to be noticed, to simply sulk and browse my way around the store so i was kind of bewildered when i was approach by the staff. it turns out that it was the best thing that could’ve happened. the girl was so sweet and friendly. she offered to give me a hand treatment that i was happy to take her up on.

after a salt scrub, some moisturizing and some magic, i was feeling much better.

i bought a couple of things that i figured would help cheer me up and i am in a whole new world of happy.

the sale’s girl recommended that i try out the “superbaume” which is essentially a vegan vaseline and miracle worker. it’s as simple as three ingredients and has a faintly buttery lemonish scent. the product is thick in consistency and a little goes a long way. dabbing some on my eczema trouble spots provides fast relief of itch and melting some onto my hands and feet before bed feels really great. it’s only been a couple of days so we’ll see how it goes over the long term.

as an added treat i decided to try out a new bubble bar “french kiss”. these look like marshmallow hershey kisses twists with a sprig of lavender to top it off. usually i stay away from lavender scents as they remind me of my mother and a soap she loves but i have always hated. however this gently perfumed and perfectly balanced with herbal notes. toss one in under running bath water and watch them bubble up and turn the water a soft purple.

the second i put one foot into the delicious water, i felt the day melt away. my skin felt so soft, the bubbles lasted throughout the entire bath. the best part was really the smell, it was subtle enough that it didnt give me a headache and worked it’s magic at relaxing my every last nerve.

you NEED one of these. this is definitely a new go-to product for stress relief. i am in love.
